Dr. Caldwell is a surgeon and author of the bestselling book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. He has produced more than 150 scientific publications and conducted a series of groundbreaking studies that helped solidify the foundation of plant-based nutrition to fight disease. He was awarded the first-ever Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine in 2005, as well as the 2015 Plantrician Project Luminary Award, and many other recognitions for his achievements. In 1956, he received a gold medal in rowing at the Olympic Games, and in 1968, as an Army surgeon in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star. Currently, he directs the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Reversal Program at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute.
